The hit CW show "Gossip Girl" has always been known for two things: the drama that sucked you in no matter how ridiculous it got, and the clothes. The show's costume designers decked out the cast inmany covetable designer pieces. This was especially true when it came to dressing one of the show's biggest characters, Blair Waldorf.
Blair, portrayed byLeighton Meester, reigned New York City as the chic preppy queen. Blair was an expert at mixing prints, made patterned tights and elaborate headbands a real-life trend, and was never shy about wearing color.
It's hard to pick which of Blair's outfits were the best, so below are a collection of 31 of her most memorable.
When she first made her appearance and looked very un-Blair-like, but it worked anyway.
The first time we get a glimpse of Blair, she's wearing a black lace babydoll dress, black lace stockings, black heels, and a black bow headband. This is one of the only times you'll see Blair in this much black, and she looks different here than she does in the rest of the series, but it's still an iconic look.
When she showed off her classic Blair style in a bright yellow coat.
Blair always managed to make her boring school uniform look more interesting than it was by adding elaborate accessories. This bright yellow coat and equally bright red stockings is one example.
When she added pops of mustard to an otherwise drab look and it looked excellent.
This dark green poncho is a beauty, but it doesn't really stand out like it does with these pops of mustard yellow. The fishnet stockings and mahogany colored heels only make this look better.
When she stepped out in this red gown and our jaws dropped.
This feathered and layered red gown was, hands down, Blair's best look throughout the entire series. Everything, from the pink heels to the jewels around her neck, was perfect.
When she mixed a maroon coat with mustard tights, and looked good doing it.
This preppy look is pretty standard Blair, the odd-colored tights especially.
When she looked like an actual princess in this pink confection.
Blair always wanted to be a princess, and this look is something only she could wear and not look like she was going to a costume party.
When she mixed huge fruit prints, of all things, and it made us all want to do the same.
Blair was an expert at mixing together patterns and colors that you would never, ever imagine together, and then making it work. One classic example is this mix of sweet mix of giant fruit prints and bright colors, with the addition of, of course, an unusual beret.
When she went for the nautical look and totally nailed it.
One great thing about Blair is that she stuck to the theme of whatever she was doing exactly. So if she was going on a boat, then you'd better believe she was sticking with a nautical look. This blue and white vintage looking dress is perfection, and the red bucket bag and wide brim hat? Both great choices.
When she brought out your inner prep.
Blair's style has always had a preppy vibe to it, especially in the earlier seasons of "Gossip Girl." This outfit is classic Blair: touches of plaid, mixed prints, patterned tights, and a big headband featuring a bright red bow.
When she made a giant shoulder bow and gloves look chic.
Some of Blair's best looks came from the fancy events and galas she was always attending, and this elegant gown is no exception.
When she went for Hamptons-preppy-chic and hit the nail on the head.
Who could forget this colorful look she wore when summering in the Hamptons? Blair pulled off old-school preppy in the best way, with her matching headband and shoes and her pink belt.
When she made you want to buy a lime green cape.
Blair once paired a lime green cape coat with long gray gloves, yellow heels, and a polka dot scarf, and, she made it work.
When she looked angelic in white.
Blair never looked as extravagant or flashy as her "Gossip Girl" best friend Serena van der Woodsen, and she usually managed to keep her outfits pretty innocent. This one takes the cake though: this white eyelet dress looked great with black lace stockings.
When she stepped out in a green tweed skirt suit.
Who knew a green tweed skirt suit like this one could look so trendy and stylish? Blair was an expert at taking classic, old-school items and making them look modern, like she did here with a printed blouse.
When she kept it simple in black and white, and still looked fabulous.
Even when Blair kept her outfit simple and more demure, she looked good. One example is this pretty white blouse and black skirt — the neck scarf and headband kept it interesting.
When she stunned in this metallic gown.
This elaborately embroidered, rose-printed gown is so pretty to look at, and Blair kept everything else about her look simple, which was the right move.
When she looked more chic than anyone should while walking through the rain.
No matter the weather, Blair was stepping out looking picture-perfect. This outfit features a perfect mix of florals and different shades of blue.
When she rocked red tights under shorts and made you want to do the same.
Blair has never been shy about a pair of bright tights, and this example is actually on the tame side. When Blair paired her red tights with simple shorts, she started a real-life trend.
When she looked gorgeous in an extremely ruffled top.
Who knew giant ruffles could look so stylish? Blair looked like classic royalty with her loose updo and this beautiful blouse.
When she wore a gown decorated in leaves and it didn't look weird.
Is this a strange pattern idea for a fancy gown? It is, but Blair, as usual, pulls it off effortlessly.
When she made her gym uniform look more stylish than any of your other outfits.
How is it possible for a gym uniform to look so cool? Blair managed it by adding a wide red patent belt, patterned knee socks, and, of course, a headband.
When she looked like a supermodel in all black.
This is maybe the only other time Blair wore all black besides the first episode of "Gossip Girl," but maybe she should have considered doing it more. This black cape, black jeans, and black beret combo is simple and chic.
When she made you want to tuck a tie into your skirt.
In one episode, when Blair was trying to look extremely professional, she wore a yellow blouse, a green pencil skirt, and a striped tie tucked into that skirt.
When she proved herself to be the leader of the statement coats trend.
Blair was spotted in many, many different coats throughout the series, but this is one that stands out for its pattern and its bright hue.
When she wore an elaborately extravagant gown like it was no big deal.
This black gown with metallic embellishments and pink cap sleeves was gorgeous.
When she mixed a palm print with tweed and lace and it worked.
This was classic Blair: mixing not two, but three, completely unexpected patterns together to create a look that was actually enviable.
When she got married in a stunning Vera Wang gown.
This gorgeous lace dress, with an unexpected bow, was the perfect wedding dress.
When she made yellow and orange look like the perfect summer combo.
This skirt alone, with its bright patterns and lemon prints, seems risky enough. Pairing it with a bold blouse and equally bold accessories was daring, and paid off.
When she nailed her white party look.
Of course, Blair wore all white to the white party in the Hamptons and looked great while doing it. Instead of getting fancy, Blair looked preppy-chic in a white bodycon dress with simple shoes and a white headband.
When she wore this tiny hat like a pro.
Another stunning Blair coat and tight combo, but what really stands out here is, obviously, the tiny hat attached to her headband. It's so uniquely Blair Waldorf.
When she made jaw drops in this Ellie Saab gown.
This is easily one of Blair's most outstanding gowns of the series. This ice blue Ellie Saab seemed like it was made for her.
